 She is so happy, and that makes me happy.

My name is Jill and my husband, Jason, and I have recently purchased a house in Northern Illinois.  Buying a house, I thought is supposed to be an exciting time in your life, but for us it was hell.  We are a young family with one small child.  I am a stay at home mother and Jason works as a mechanic.  We don’t have a lot of credit and what we do have is just ok, nothing spectacular.  I guess you could say we’re just average.  We decided that it was time for us to move on to bigger and better things.  It was time to purchase a house for our growing family. 

Being a first time home buyer I had absolutely no clue what buying a house was all about.  I started calling around getting information and looking for houses on my own.  It was a mess there we’re barely any houses in our price range and what was out there was less than desirable.  Not to mention that the banks and mortgage companies thought that we where less than desirable candidates for a loan.  I went round and round with the banks and mortgage companies trying to get pre-approval, but all they did was jerk me around.  I finally thought that I had found a mortgage company after about three months of trying.  They told me that they could give me the loan and everything would be fine.  They said that they would put us into a fifteen year loan at x amount of dollars and then after ninety days refinance into a thirty year loan for a smaller mortgage payment.  At first I thought that this was great we were finally going to own a home, but after reading the fine print we realized that this was all a scam.  They failed to tell us that they were not required to refinance after ninety days, like they told us, and that we could be stuck with a mortgage payment that we couldn’t afford. 

We decided to start looking again and keep our options open. Yet all we kept hearing was NO!! but I was starting to get desperate.  We were now five months into the buying process, we have looked at more than eighty houses, been through five realtors, bid on four houses that fell through, and countless banks and mortgage companies.  Still through all of this I was not taking no for an answer.  I picked up the phone book and began to search.  I came across the number of American Mortgage, in Peoria, Illinois.  I called because, well for one it was close to where we are originally from and because I, at this point, had nothing to lose. 

I talked to Laure Feld and told her my story of hell.  I told her that I believed that somebody out there would give me and my family a chance.  That it was just a matter of finding that person.  She told me she would look at my information and tell whether or not she could be that person for me.  Laure was very forward and honest.  She told me just how it was.  I liked working with her because she didn’t jerk me around, she never gave me false hope, and she was there for me anytime I needed her.  She also had a great staff.  If she was busy they would answer any of my questions and never make me wait.  I never felt on edge waiting for answers and she never made me wait long. 

I was told from my mother-in-law that if it is suppose to be it will happen easily.  My husband and I finally found the perfect house; it surpassed the rest in so many ways.  We put in our bid and it was immediately accepted.  I called Laure and she got the ball rolling.  She helped me up my credit score; she explained all the paperwork so I could understand it, and she kept me informed every step of the way.  From start to finish she had us closing in twenty-four days.  We would have never got here if it wasn’t for her hard work and dedication.  She was the one person who took a chance to give my family a home.

It’s really starting to set in that this is really our home.  Somedays I still feel like I’m visiting somebody else’s wonderful home.  The place is just so homey and inviting.  After years of bouncing around and living in one unstable environment after another I have finally found home and I am lucky enough to be able to share this over whelming feeling of happiness with my son, all thanks to you.  You have no idea how much what you did for us has meant, how much it has changed my life, and restored my faith in people.  It’s that one person that is willing to take a chance on another person, who is maybe a little less than desirable, that really makes the difference in the world.  I will never forget you and how hard you worked to give my family a home.  I want to thank-you again.

I have read many of your other customer's testimonials regarding financing "nightmares but there couldn't possibly be anyone else who had the turmoil and stress of my situation. As older homeowners we purchased a new construction and had a pretty good interest rate. When interest rates started to go down, I called our credit union to see if we could refinance our large mortgage at a lower rate. The credit union couldn't do much better than the rate we already had. I had heard about Brandy and called her about our refinance. She was very pleasant to work with and could give "Speedy Gonzalas" a run for his money. Her Customer Service skills are top notch, keeping us well informed of the whole process. We worked with Laure every month, day and night, by email.  She would email us back very promptly.  In August we were told to go find a house!   In September we found our house and Closed on it at the end of October. 

For being a first time homeowner I would highly recommend AML to everyone.  We had a few stressful situations, but Laure told us to let her doing the worrying for us.  She was going to make this loan happen.

I wanted to take a moment and commend the team at AML for the all-star attention to my wife and my unique mortgage situation.  Our family has been plagued by a high interest second mortgage for years.  Last fall, we refinanced our two mortgages with another local broker.  The other company could only tell us that with our unique credit history that we would not be eligible for a low fixed rate mortgage.  Instead of working with us to wait a few months and exploring every option possible, we closed on an Adjustable Rate Mortgage.  Although the interest savings of doing this short-term loan covered the closing costs, I was still disappointed that my family could not get the fixed rate we deserved.  All this changed when I met Laure, Brandy, and the rest of the team at AML. 

Laure reviewed my credit and went one step further.  She repaired my credit and spent countless hours with many lenders to find a low fixed rate mortgage.  She was upfront on all the issues and applied no pressure.  Paperwork was no hassle.  Brandy pleasantly communicated daily with me on all the things the lender needed.  We could even communicate a lot of details through email and fax.  Truth be known, I never really had to spend much time in their new building on the corner of Sheridan and War, I just liked to visit with them. 

A lot of businesses today spend too much time worrying about the bottom line.  Not Laure and not AML.  I told Laure that with all the individual attention she gave to my family that she didn’t make any money off the deal.  She didn’t care.  She was genuinely concerned that my family got the rate we deserved and made my loan a personal quest.
